History
Nam Bee is one of Malaysia's leading and pioneering firms in
the manufacture of rubber products.
Nam Bee was originally founded in 1938 by the late Tan Kok Cheng.
The word 'Nam Bee" literally translated in Chinese means "south
beautiful". The late Tan Kok Cheng, being from the province
of Fujian, China, migrated south to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in
1930 and obviously thought his new home was very beautiful.
The original factory was situated in Brickfields, and the production
process was fairly manual utilising a two-roll open mill and
a workforce of 5 production workers. The rubber compounds were
mixed manually on open mills and then hand cut and shaped into
the desired size and dimensions. These rubber compounds were
supplied to the local market for industrial use.
The continuous growth of the Company saw it relocate its factory
to Sungei Besi in 1945 and later to Petaling Jaya, its present
location, in 1967.
In 1968 the Company was incorporated into a private limited
Company under the Companies Act 1965, changing its name to Nam
Bee Rubber Works Sdn. Bhd.
PNSB Nam Bee Rubber Industrial Sdn Bhd was established in 1995,
being a joint venture with Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd, the
investment arm of the Selangor State Government. This company
specialise in the production of moulded rubber products.
Nam Bee Tyre Retreading Sdn Bhd was established in 1996 in order
for the group to expand down stream into commercial tyre retreading
and repairs. |
