A Brief History

The late Tan Kok Cheng and his wife arrived into then Malaya from Fujian, China in the 1930s. They started from humble beginnings as a rickshaw puller and doing laundry jobs for hotels.

Through sheer hard work and perseverance they founded Nam Bee in 1938.

Literally translated “Nam Bee” means “South Beautiful”.

And this was their dream…….to build a future together and to assist their struggling families back in China.

The original factory was situated in Brickfields. With an initial workforce of 5 workers, the production process then was fairly manual, utilizing a 2-roll open mill to mix natural rubber, carbon black & chemicals.

The rubber compounds were then hand cut and shaped into the desired size and dimensions, and supplied to local market for industrial use.

The continuous growth of the Company saw it relocate to Sungei Besi in 1945, then to Petaling Jaya in 1967 and finally to its present location in Port Klang in 2010.

Today, Nam Bee Rubber & Tyre Group, managed by the founder’s son Tan Ann Khoon and grandson Tan Chin Han, continues its onward journey .

With current manufacturing facilities of 250,000 sq feet, on a 10 acres land and located in strategic Port Klang, together with 6 Tyre Service & Distribution Centers strategically located throughout Peninsular Malaysia and a combined workforce of over 300 people nationwide, Nam Bee Rubber & Tyre Group is one of Malaysia’s leading and pioneering firms in the rubber & tyre industry.
